My name is Ella

I love that quote that says “how we do anything is how we do everything”

I am a doula and guide through life’s transitions. I feel honoured to support women and partners during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I support women wholeheartedly, offering calm, grounded, holistic care and encouraging families to weave practical, physiological birth knowledge with their own innate wisdom and power. My approach is energetic, holistic and intuitive—blending evidence-based practice, ceremony and ritual to help women connect to their own authenticity. And since I heard that quote, it has changed the way I look at everything.

My roots in Andean shamanism shape the way I hold space. Simple, practical work with energy, nature and connection which I adapt to meet the needs of any family, in any situation, with any birth preference. I was lucky to begin my career in Amsterdam, where homebirth is still common and there are many private midiwfery practices and birthing centres supporting women and families. I was certified by BiA Doula Training school; the most incredible women and mentors.  I bring their comfort, passion, intuition and trust with me to Ireland, where my family and I are deeply grateful to place our roots and honour the land.

Before I became a doula in 2023, I spent 7 years worked with children and families in a range of capacities. These roads eventually led to the incredible world of Birth. I have always been drawn to people; passionate about connecting the dots of existence in a beautiful, sincere way and supporting birth feels like the origin of this purpose. Over the past 8 years I have run a private bi-lingual Montessori daycare and managed a professional nanny agency, where the needs of children and families were at the centre of it all. I became a professional nanny myself at the start of Covid, when I realised just how important family wellbeing is during uncertain times. During my years as a nanny, I built genuine relationships with children and their parents (actually a dream job) which incorporated play, learning, exploration, nutrition and cooking, new skills and a lot of outdoor magic into the lives of children. Bringing in Montessori knowledge and a passion for learning and plant based cooking to create reassuring frameworks for children and their families, many of whom were working from home due to lockdowns. I built lasting relationships with families, who felt at ease knowing their children were being cared for and enriched with genuine, professional care.

Outside of birth and energy work, I am passionate about music, art and nature; foraging the hedgerows in ever changing seasons, hiking hills and mountains, photography, seasonal nutrition, cooking (whether Mexican, Thai, Middle-eastern or Indian, I love the alchemy of sauces, cordials, infused oils, deep flavours, hot hot chillies and fresh herbs) and finding alignment to authenticity through nature, ritual and practice.

  • “Having Ella with us was a game changer. We were able to better function as a team with her supporting both of us (much better than we had been alone for our first birth). We both felt calmer and I felt more confident that I could handle whatever came, knowing we were both being supported and my partner wasn’t feeling like it was up to him to get me through the birth. Ella helped make sure we had everything we needed. I felt very relaxed and in control, and I was able to handle the pain pretty well. With Ella’s help my partner and I tried different positions and alternated between the pool and the TENS machine. It was so different from my first birth, this one couldn’t have gone any better. I felt like I was actually present for it, where as before it felt like it happened “to” me. Our baby was born really relaxed, like she was ready to arrive. I know it sounds ridiculous because it’s painful but I think I actually enjoyed this one!”

  • “Ella was absolutely great. At first, when Amy mentioned wanting a doula I had to get used to the idea. After meeting Ella I liked the idea straight away. Ella has a very nice, pleasant calming presence about her. She is a good listener and makes you feel heard and understood. She really is a natural. The night before the birth, we felt it was going to happen. We called Ella when contractions were getting closer together and the midwife confirmed we were ready to go to the birth centre. Ella met us there. During the labour she was a great help, present when needed but also offered us space and useful tips. She had a very calming effect on the room. I think she is very talented and will support many woman and their partners on this journey”

  • “The appointments were exactly how I hoped they would be. Even though I had already read a lot about pregnancy and birth, Ella shared new information. We practiced positions to help relieve pain and ways my partner could support me during labour. Ella’s calmess and enthusiasm really helped boost my self-confidence about the birth. Ella is a good listener and during the appointments there was space to share my emotions. It really helped me to process everything, as (aside from my partner ) she was there almost the whole time. We did a closing ceremony which really helped me to move past the negative emotions of a challenging birth and reflect back in a more positive way”

  • I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible support Ella provided during our homebirth experience. From our first meeting, it was clear that she was not only knowledgeable but also genuinely passionate about supporting families during such a transformative time. Her calm presence and unwavering encouragement made all the difference during labor. She truly felt like an invested member of our birth team, seamlessly collaborating with my partner and me to ensure our needs were met. Her attentiveness and commitment to our experience went above and beyond what we could have hoped for. After the birth, her support continued as she provided invaluable postpartum care. She helped us navigate those early days with ease, offering practical assistance and emotional reassurance that made a world of difference as we adjusted to life with our newborn. What truly set her apart was her ability to anticipate our needs and adapt to the unfolding situation with grace and compassion. She created a peaceful atmosphere, allowing us to focus on the joy of bringing our baby into the world. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking a doula who is dedicated, compassionate, and skilled. Thank you for making our homebirth a beautiful and unforgettable experience!

  • “Ella is a sensitive person, in my opinion. From the very first moment, I could sense that she was present. I immediately connected with her. Ella taught me pain relief techniques to use during labor. Aside from our one-on-one sessions, she arranged a session for my husband and I, where she taught him pain relief techniques to help me during birth. During labor, when contactions were intense, we used the techniques, and they worked like magic - the pain of the contractions was reduced extremely, and immediately”

    Naomi

  • “Ella was so insightful. She shared techniques for me to use on different levels and discussed a clear preparation for the birth. Ella was available and very supportive. She has become a part of the birth of our son in an unforgettable way!”
